if you've used imgur as an image host for a while, there's a chance some of the links are broken, and the images aren't displaying. this tutorial will show you how to quickly update the codes so images display again

this tutorial works best on pc, not on mobile. there may be a way to achieve something similar on mobile, but i don't personally know it. (please share if you do!)

first, verify that the coding needs to be replaced by checking what the urls are displaying as. if they're "http://imgur.com" or "https://imgur.com" urls, they need to be replaced

copy and paste the relevant coding coding in a block, not the individual images. (for example, i just completely copied and pasted all of the casual html text from an icon post on this very journal)

from there, paste it into a word editor. i'm a windows pc user, so i use notepad

in the navigation bar of your program of choice, click on edit > replace. (the exact location and naming may vary from program to program, but a "replace" function should be available in every word editor)

a new box will pop up with several options

in the "find" field, paste this:
http://imgur.com

in the "replace" field, paste this:
https://i.imgur.com

to be thorough, repeat the process

in the "find" field, paste this:
https://imgur.com

the "replace" field should have kept the new url, but if necessary just copy the url above again

select "replace all"

copy the entire code block from the text editor, and paste it back where you originally copied from. make sure to replace the original text

et voila! your images should now display

here's a scenario probably every journal user has experienced: you find an icon community, and you save a lot of icons. then you're so caught up in the euphoria of finding neat icons that you forget that icon crediting exists. it's not the worst thing in the world, especially if you're copying and pasting, but it's also also not fun

well, the beautiful wastintime on insanejournal created a script to make this process less tedious!

they have instructions to get it installed, so i won't go over that, but i will show you how it works
